Because when baby’s ready, you’ll want to be too.

As your due date gets closer, one of the most helpful things you can do is pack your hospital bag early — around 36 weeks is ideal. Having everything ready will help reduce stress and make those “it’s time!” moments go a little smoother. Here’s your simple, no-fuss guide to what to pack.
👜 Essentials for Mom
Photo ID and insurance card
Keep these in an easy-to-reach pocket or folder.
Birth plan (if you have one)
Hand a copy to your nurse or provider when you arrive.
Comfortable clothes
Think: loose pajamas, a soft robe, nursing-friendly tops, and an outfit to go home in.
Non-slip socks or slippers
Hospital floors are cold!
Toiletries
Toothbrush, toothpaste, face wash, deodorant, hairbrush, shampoo, conditioner, body wash.
Hair ties or headband
Keep hair out of your face during labor.
Lip balm
Hospitals can be very dry.
Phone charger (extra long cord is best)
Snacks
(for after delivery)Think trail mix, granola bars, or crackers.
Glasses or contact lens supplies (if needed)
Adult diapers or postpartum underwear
The hospital will provide some, but many moms prefer their own.
Nursing bra and nipple cream
For comfort and early feeding support.
👶 For Baby
Going-home outfit
Bring two sizes (newborn and 0–3 months) just in case.
Swaddle or blanket
For comfort and those sweet first photos.
Baby hat and mittens
Keeps baby warm and prevents scratching.
Car seat
(already installed in your car!)Required to leave the hospital.
🤝 For Your Partner or Support Person
Change of clothes
Toiletries
Snacks and drinks
Pillow and blanket (hospital ones aren’t always comfy)
Camera or phone for photos
💡 Tip: Pack your items in three sections or bags — one for labor, one for postpartum, and one for baby. That way, you or your partner can easily find what you need.
Every hospital provides different items, so check in advance with your birthing center — they may already supply diapers, wipes, peri bottles, or baby shirts. The most important thing? Pack for comfort, and don’t stress. You've got this, mama.
