For over 30 years, the Healthy Start Coalition of Okeechobee has helped families thrive by providing a free, voluntary Home Visitation Program to pregnant women, women between pregnancies, those who have experienced a loss or whose infant has recently been placed out of the home, and families with children up to age three.
At the heart of this program is personalized, in-home support designed to give every family the healthiest possible start. Participants receive one-on-one guidance in finding a prenatal care provider, prenatal and newborn care education, childbirth and parenting instruction, breastfeeding support, childcare safety (including car seat safety), nutrition education, and help to quit smoking. Our program also offers supportive counseling, in-home assessments, care coordination, and referrals to critical community resources.
Beyond immediate health benefits, home visiting strengthens long-term outcomes for families. Engaging with caring, trained professionals at home empowers parents to build knowledge and confidence in pregnancy, birth, and early childcare. These visits not only support infant health and development but also enhance maternal well-being during a transformative, and sometimes overwhelming, season of life.
If you’re expecting or caring for a young child, our program offers invaluable resources, education, and support right to your doorstep—all at no cost to you and completely confidential.
